Like all children their age, the boys simply can't wait until their birthdays. It's nice to have them somewhat close together for a few reasons:
1. So far we've been able to combine the parties and they still love it.
2. We only have to do all the hoopla once a year!
3. They don't get too jealous of the other (although Max is a little irked that Zach's actual date is before his...Zach couldn't care less...)
4. All the shopping, invites, etc. only need to be done once!
Anyway, as an ongoing math activity we count down something at all times, as well as 'tally' good deeds done around the house. Here they are counting down the days before their birthdays.
If you're not used to reading 1st grade purely phonetic spelling, Max has written
"antel my berthday", aka until my birthday!
